The construction work on Mangla Dam upraising project is in full swing and the gigantic scheme of Rs 62 billion would bring more progress and prosperity in the country.

The sources said after the completion of the upraising project, the functioning of the dam would be more effective and the project would augment supply of irrigation water in various parts of the country including Punjab and Sindh.

Highlighting the salient features of the project, the sources told APP here Thursday that there would be an additional power generation and further improvement in agriculture sector while cultivating more barren lands in the area would be possible, the sources added.

The flood situation would also be alleviated as a result of raising height of the dam from the existing level.

The sources said that with the increase of water storage capacity the agriculture production would also be enhanced from the existing level, adding this would create more jobs in the country besides generating more electricity.
